Rangnick has confessed that buying four new players for Manchester United this summer is "not enough," as he attempts to oversee the club's rebirth.
After a turbulent season at Old Trafford, Manchester United's team is in desperate need of a revamp. Ajax's Erik ten Hag is set to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club's permanent manager in the summer.
A wide-ranging interview with Sky Sports revealed how much United needs to rebuild in the upcoming transfer window, and Rangnick revealed he's already proposed "a couple" of players to the club. United's shifting form has not been caused by the commotion surrounding United's search for a new manager, according to him.
According to Rangnick, "I don't think so, no." "Regardless of who the next manager is, I don't believe it will have any impact on the team's performance to have his name released in a week, two weeks, or three weeks from now.
"The new manager must be identified before any recruiting can begin; otherwise, it will be impossible to identify the best potential players to fill the available positions.
"Manchester United may be interested in a few players regardless of formation or style of play, and even without a new manager in place. It's not enough to bring in three or four new players to rebuild the club in this manner, in my opinion. Taking into account the fact that several players' contracts are about to expire, it will be even more."
Rangnick claimed that the current Manchester United side is lacking in nearly every department.. When their contracts expire at the end of June, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, and Edinson Cavani will all be available for free transfers. Nemanja Matic and Lee Grant have both told the club that they intend to leave.
Rangnick went on to say the following about the need to add to the group: "Yes, I think we need to enhance the entire team, not just the goalkeeper. Again, it comes down to the profile when it comes to bringing in players who can actually help the team improve. We can play any kind of football we want, but what kind of players do we need to make it happen?"
Despite David de Gea's stellar play this season, Rangnick intimated that United would reevaluate their goalkeeping situation. Almost certainly, the Spaniard will be named the club's player of the year in 2021/202.
According to Rangnick, "there hasn't been an issue this season in fact, but this is also something that needs to be taken into consideration when you know who your manager is". "I mean, David has been a standout for me since I've been here. But if you look at Manchester City and Liverpool, you can see how much money they've spent on goalkeepers. This is something we can only talk about when we know who the new manager is and how he wants to play."
