Ex-Red Devil suggests five Man United flops to ditch and one ideal signing to start Ten Hag era.

When it comes to preparing for life under new manager Erik ten Hag next season, Manchester United would be wise to get go of some of their underperformers.

It is time for interim manager Ralf Rangnick to stand down and make way for Ten Hag as the new permanent manager of the Red Devils, who are hobbling to the finish line after a poor campaign.

Even though the Dutch tactician faces a difficult task, former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has spoken to CaughtOffside about the improvements that could be implemented to assist the club get off to a successful start in the new era.

At the very least, Chadwick feels there are five first-team players that should be released, if not more. On the other hand, he believes Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong would be an excellent addition to United's midfield depth.

Chris Chadwick remarked that "Phil Jones hasn't played regularly in the Premier League for a number of years so it would probably be best for him to depart, and I'm sure that he has something of value to contribute to another Premier League club."

In terms of Wan-Bissaka, he came in and performed admirably at first, but he hasn't added that extra dimension to his game or made enough progress in the final third of the pitch, which is critical in the current game." There is so much going forward with Manchester City and Liverpool full-backs that Wan-Bissaka has not yet progressed sufficiently in this area.

He has gone on loan and has not been able to stay consistent. I think his time is over." It seemed to be the appropriate time for him to begin his career in a new location.

"Bailly has never had a sustained run of success in the league. Lindelof, on the other hand, I believe would be a little more evenly distributed. He's had some decent spells this season, and he was definitely selected ahead of Harry Maguire for the Arsenal game, but he hasn't been a reliable first-team option as much as he has in previous seasons.

"Given the way the team is currently performing, you could potentially add a significant number of players to that list." At the same time, once we get to pre-season, the new manager will need to have a look at the players and make his own decision.

The next manager will, I believe, examine these players when he takes over. The squad clearly has to be changed and revitalized, and perhaps the necessary funds will be available for him to bring in new faces to the team.

In the long run, it is necessary to have a long-term vision for the team's appearance and the style of play that they will employ. "It is not going to be a quick process," says the coach. It appeared that Manchester United could be a dangerous counter-attacking team in Solskjaer's first few games, but it is impossible for a club like Manchester United to do so in every game. "You can't play at Old Trafford in front of 80,000 people and try to get smaller Premier League clubs on the break; it simply will not be effective."

Ten Hag's former players have already been included in the transfer rumors and conjecture, and Chadwick is a big fan of Barcelona star De Jong.

Donny van de Beek, who has struggled since joining United from Ajax a couple of years ago and is went on loan at Everton, was also named by the former Red Devil.

In the words of Chadwick, "De Jong is an enormously talented player who appeared particularly at home in Ten Hag's Ajax team that reached the Champions League semi-finals a few years ago."

"He didn't get off to a great start in Barcelona, but I believe he's grown in confidence as time has gone on." He appears to be someone who will appease the fans - I believe that United supporters will want to see him play the type of football that was so successful for him at Ajax.

I think Ten Hag would do well to create his midfield around someone like De Jong, who is a wonderful passer of the ball."

"With Donny van de Beek, you're looking at a somebody who has the potential to gain more opportunities with a manager that knows and trusts him."
