He indicated that the NNPP's presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will accept the position of running mate to the Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Major told Daily Trust that talks on the planned coalition were still ongoing and that he didn't want to comment on the outcome.

The NNPP's spokeswoman stated that Kwankwaso or Obi might accept being each other's vice president, adding, "By the time we are done with the conversations, Nigerians would be delighted, whichever way it turns out."

According to Naija News, suspicions have surfaced that Peter Obi, who has the support of many southern youths, may run an united ticket with Kwankwaso, who has significant northern support.

Rabiu Kwankwaso has announced that his party is in negotiations with the Labour Party's presidential candidate about forming an alliance.

In an interview with BBC Hausa, the former Governor of Kano State verified it.

Kwankwaso revealed the impending merger with Obi in a three-minute video clip broadcast by BBC Hausa on Saturday morning.

During the interview, Kwankwaso stated that he is in serious talks with Peter Obi about the 2023 elections. He stated that consultations are taking place in his camp, and he believes the same is taking place in the Labour Party.
