Sometimes it seems tough to figure out how to be happy in this crazy world. I know in my life I tried numerous things that made me feel more empty than when I first started looking. Numerous paths that looked to lead to bliss ultimately left me feeling more lifeless than happy.
I tried dating, going out to bars and parties, doing various drugs, going to concerts, visiting various locations, and attending church, but nothing made me feel any less empty than when I first started seeking.

The partnerships I tried seemed to be the proper path, but once the rush had passed, that emptiness slowly crept back into my life.Everything else I tried worked in the same manner. Emptiness was the outcome of everything, including parties, drugs, concerts, and drinking!

That marked the start of my life's "church age." For twelve years, my two young children and I attended church each Sunday. We come into contact with both amiable and powerful individuals. We had both enlightening and dull moments, but we never found true bliss.

What then, as human beings, makes us content and fulfilled? After considerable deliberation, I reflected on my earlier drinking days and recalled that I could unwind and not worry about how I was going to get home safely when I took a taxi to the pub.

Okay, it makes sense, but how does it connect to our topic? I discovered that I could use the same idea to consider the wider picture. Here's what I mean: In life, what is the issue preventing us from unwinding and enjoying ourselves? For me, and I can't speak for everyone else, death was the source of all my problems. The issue was the same as the one I had in the bars. How was I going to travel safely back home?

What if you could be certain that you are going to Heaven right now?Would that relieve the stress in the back of your mind and replace it with a previously unexperienced happiness? Wouldn't that improve your life in some way? How about exchanging your sense of doom for a sense of joy?

You're probably thinking, "That can't be it easy; that's too basic." There must be more involved than that! What religion do I need to join, and what in my life do I need to give up to find happiness? How many doors must I knock on each day?

The easy way to guarantee your position in heaven is the simple truth. Going through life with a sense of dread hidden in the back of your mind, ready to attack your pleasant times and ruin you whenever the opportunity arises, doesn't make sense to me. The only way to finally get rid of these times that steal your joy is to decide where you're going to spend eternity.

Jesus declared in Matthew 6:33: "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." He knew what was within of each of us and wanted us to make the most of life. Two words that are crucial and merit discussion. Jesus says to "first seek." Jesus is aware that you won't be able to unwind and fully appreciate life until you have resolved the issue of where you will spend eternity. In the next line, we read that we are to pursue God and His righteousness. Why does the scripture not state that you should seek God and your righteousness?

Because we lack all personal righteousness and are unable to acquire any, the verse urges us to "seek God and His righteous." Because of this, Jesus freely gives us access to His righteousness. This really is a very kind offer! You will find that this goal is unachievable and results in a very frustrating existence if you claim that you don't want His righteousness and that you want to work on obtaining your own righteousness. The Bible also claims that attempting to work for your own righteousness will result in debt accumulation rather than riches accumulation.
