Three key Manchester United players are at fault for the Red Devils' first EPL defeat in the 2-1 loss to Brighton.

Earlier today, Erik ten Hag made his debut in the English Premier League as the head coach of Manchester United, losing 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

Earlier today, Erik ten Hag made his debut in the English Premier League as the head coach of Manchester United, losing 2-1 to Brighton Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

Pasca Gross scored twice before halftime to defeat the Red Devils and offset an own goal in the second period. In his professional career, the German midfielder has now scored six goals against Manchester United, the most of any Premier League team he has ever played.

Today's match against Brighton and Hove Albion saw Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo sit on the sidelines as the team suffered its first Premier League 2022/2023 defeat.

In a post-game interview, Erik ten Hag acknowledged that there was still work to be done to get Manchester United to play as a unit, but for now, this setback won't dissuade him as the Red Devils play again the following weekend.

The Dutch head coach added that Cristiano Ronaldo needed to improve his fitness before making the starting lineup, but for the time being, the entire club had significant work to do.

During the game, the former AFC Ajax coach undoubtedly made a few poor decisions, but several of the goals scored today were the consequence of players' carelessness.

The following players should be held accountable for the Red Devils' home loss to open the new Premier League season:

1.McTominay, Scott

In all fairness, Scott McTominay won't be able to crack the starting lineup of any other Premier League big six team, yet he manages to do it week in and week out at Manchester United.

He was a terrible holding midfielder today, and his combo with Fred was a complete failure as Brighton and Hove Albion dominated the game and the midfield the entire time.

1. Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford missed two easy opportunities that could have given the Red Devils the chance to tie the game or take the lead, including a sitter that Cristiano Ronaldo had set up for him.

In today's game, the English kid was absolutely bewildered, missing simple layups and overall doing nothing to aid the team.

1.Luke Shaw

Due to Luke Shaw's vulnerability and openness, which contributed to the squad giving up easy and careless goals, two of the goals scored today against Manchester United were all began from his wing.

If improvements are to be seen at Manchester United, the majority of the team's players will need to be sold or benched, and 8–10 new players will need to be brought in.

Erik ten Hag needs to pull himself together so that the Red Devils' season won't be decided by today's defeat to Brighton.
