Super Eagles hero bids farewell after club-record move: "Forever in my heart"

Before beginning a new chapter at the City Ground, the Nigerian international must send an emotional wave back to the Hornets. After joining Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis delivered a brief but heartfelt farewell letter to Watford and the club's s

Last year, Watford gambled on Dennis by signing him away from Club Brugge despite the rumors that were swirling about the Nigerian international.

Dennis almost single-handedly led the Golden Boys' fight for survival in the Premier League, paying back a large portion of that confidence.

The 24-year-old scored ten goals with six assists, which is an impressive total, but it was insufficient to save Watford from sliding to the Championship.

Dennis was too brilliant for the English second tier, and given his stellar performance, it was not surprising that numerous top-flight clubs expressed interest in hiring him.

He was eventually signed by Nottingham Forest, who reportedly paid £20 million to make him their most expensive acquisition in club history. Taiwo Awoniyi, a fellow countryman who joined from Union Berlin earlier in the summer, is passed by him.

Dennis was present to thank Watford for looking after him for a year, but he missed Forest's first league victory in more than 20 years, which was motivated by Awoniyi.

Dennis vowed to always have a soft spot in his heart for the Hornets in a post on his Twitter account.

I want to express my gratitude to Watford and my best wishes for the club's future. Always in my heart.

When Steven Cooper's team faces Everton the following weekend in search of their second league victory, Dennis will be hoping to make his Forest debut.
