Avram Glazer was tracked down to give a comment on his family's decision to put United up for sale Avram Glazer, a co-owner of Manchester United, has made his first public comments regarding the club since the announcement that it is for sale.
On Tuesday night, United made the announcement that they were 'exploring strategic opportunities' for the club, which may or may not include selling it. Old Trafford is owned by a group of investors known as the Glazers, but the club's fans have been vocal in their opposition to the family's control of the stadium for years.
In addition, the club's statement included the following passage: "Manchester United does not intend to make any further announcements regarding the review unless and until the board has approved a specific transaction or other course of action that requires a formal announcement."
Sky News was able to locate Avram Glazer in Florida on Wednesday night, and he addressed the public for the first time since the announcement. The 62-year-old provided his thoughts on the sale of the club during this first appearance in public since the news broke.
Glazer stated the following close to his home in West Palm Beach: "As we announced yesterday, the board went through a process and it has decided that it is going to look at different strategic alternatives and that is what we are doing."
When asked why the club hadn't been sold sooner, he repeated that the American family was currently weighing all of its available options.
Glazer continued by saying, "Well, once again, we've gone through a process, and we're going to look at all different strategic alternatives and we'll see where that leads us, so I appreciate you talking to me tonight, and I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving."
