Marcus Rashford was absent from Manchester United's training session on Wednesday, which resulted in him being left out of the team's squad for their Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol.
The news comes just one day before England manager Gareth Southgate names his latest Three Lions squad for the final Nations League Games later this month. No reason has been given for the 24-year-old player's absence from the traveling party, but the news comes just one day before that announcement.
Due to his struggles with his form during the previous campaign, Rashford has not been selected to play for his country since the loss of the Euro 2020 final to Italy in July 2021. After a lackluster performance for United, Southgate did not consider him for the team.
In spite of this, the Reds attacker, who has already contributed to this year's campaign with three goalsnd two assists, was on track to be recalled to the England squad after getting off to a strong start to the new campaign.
However, the Press Association (PA) reports that Rashford's potential recall to the England squad is in jeopardy as a result of the fact that he did not travel with the United squad for their match on Thursday in the Europa League. According to the report, his participation is in jeopardy because of an injury that is not specified.
Marcus Rashford has been named the Premier League Stats Performer of the Week.
The England forward was outstanding for the Red Devils, contributing to their 3-1 victory over Arsenal with two goals and an assist.
The Three Lions have two more opportunities to impress Southgate before he chooses his squad for the World Cup, which will take place in Qatar later this year. Later this month, the Three Lions will play their final group games in the Nations League against Italy and Germany. Players will have just two more opportunities to show their mettle on the international stage.
Due to the postponement of United's match against Leeds this coming weekend, Erik ten Hag's squad will play their final game before the resumption of Premier League play after the international break. That game will be against Sheriff.
