Knighton: Man Utd hostile bid 'proceeding as planned'

Michael Knighton has asserted that his "hostile bid" to oust the Glazers from their position as owners of Manchester United and carry out a takeover is "going forward."

WHAT CAME TO PASS? The dissatisfied fan base at Old Trafford has made it quite obvious that they want to see changes made at the boardroom level, which has contributed to the continuous growth of opposition to American ownership at Old Trafford throughout the 2022-2023 season. Knighton, who came close to acquiring the Red Devils back in 1989, has returned to the fore, and efforts are being made to steal ownership of Premier League heavyweights away from a family that has been in charge since 2005. Britain's richest man, Sir James Ratcliffe, is also involved in these efforts.

WHAT THEY SAID: Knighton has tweeted the following on social media in response to the ongoing speculation on the possibility of convincing the Glazers to sell their business: "I want to thank each and every one of you for the kind words of support. There is a lot happening behind the scenes right now. Everything is going according to plan at this point. I am sorry that I am unable to spend more time on this platform; but, I am now swamped with meetings. I pray that God blesses each of you and grants all of your wishes. Your continued support is very much appreciated.

THE BIG PICTURE: The Glazer family is planning to maintain control of Manchester United even though the club has not been formally listed for sale, which is complicating efforts to put a takeover plan into action at United. The Glazers are willing to stand their position.

The Premier League is more "intense" than the more "technical" LaLiga. - Varane

During an interview with TCL, the French defender made the comparison between the Spanish top division and the Premier League.

AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, Knighton had already stated, as reported by Man Utd The Religion, regarding attempts to force the issue, "We are a club in crisis and we all know the reason why. Our ownership is incompetent, and to tell you the truth, they are completely useless. They are not very knowledgeable about football. Everyone is aware that we are in desperate need of new ownership for this football club, and that is both my goal and one of my primary objectives. I am continuing to communicate to the people, and as a result, I have had some solid pledges and am in a good financial position. I am making good progress. The offer document is currently under construction here. Keep in mind that this is a hostile bid, which simply means that the club is not currently listed as being available for purchase. But my goal is to provide these property owners with an offer that is legal, compelling, and profitable so that I can tell them, "You have reached the end of the road; it's time to depart because your time has expired."
