Man Utd defender Raphael Varane's injury is the latest.

Raphael Varane was unable to finish the first half of Sunday's Manchester derby and was replaced by Victor Lindelof. The French center back will now undergo examinations to determine the extent of his injuries.

Raphael Varane, a defender for Manchester United, suffered an ankle injury during their match against Manchester City, and the team is currently concerned about whether or not he will be able to play in their upcoming match.

The Frenchman was taken off in the first half of Sunday's Manchester derby with what is believed to be an ankle sprain. L'Equipe reports that he will now have an evaluation today (Monday). According to their report, United's medical staff struggled to make an immediate diagnosis of Varane's injury due to swelling around the joint. This information was included in their report.

When Victor Lindelof came on to replace Varane in the heart of United's defense, the Red Devils were already trailing by three goals. Despite his best efforts, the Swedish international was unable to stop City's onslaught, and the Citizens went on to win by a score of 6-3. As a result of his injury, Varane's participation in Thursday's Europa League group match against Omonia Nicosia, which will be played in Cyprus, may now be in jeopardy.

It is possible that Erik ten Hag may have changed things up anyway for United's next fixture; however, the manager will be eager to have Varane back in time for the team's trip to Everton on Sunday. According to the Manchester Evening News, Varane's injury is not believed to be serious, and it is not anticipated that he will be out for an extended period of time.

The former Real Madrid star had started to develop a strong partnership with Lisandro Martinez, but they were defeated at the Etihad Stadium by the brilliant play of City's duo Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

When asked after the game if Varane would have stayed on the field if the score was closer, Ten Hag responded, "I don't think so, that he would have carried on." However, you remove him from the game because you do not want to take the risk of sustaining a more serious injury when you are trailing by a score of 4-0.

"However, I believe the injury to be of such a serious nature that it rendered him unable to continue."

Gary Neville, a pundit for Manchester United, believes that the defense was not entirely to blame even though the team allowed four goals before halftime for the second time this season. In an episode of Sky Sports' The Gary Neville Podcast, he explained what went wrong, saying that it was the unforced errors, anxiety on the ball, and lack of composure. I'm not referring to the defenders at the back as being the ones who are being pressed; rather, I'm speaking about the midfielders and the forwards, such as Rashford, Eriksen, Fernandes, and McTominay.

Raphael Varane left Sunday's Manchester derby injured.

"In the first half, they all wasted time and effort by giving it out for free. When your greatest players are unable to handle the ball effectively, it only serves to spread additional negative emotions across the team. They ought to have been much, much better than they were."

However, Neville did admit that the defensive performance was not nearly up to his standards. "There was a problem with Dalot in defense, there was a problem with Varane and Martinez at center back, there was a problem with Malacia at left back, and there is no question that they did not have their best day. But the thing that really stood out to me was how poorly Manchester United's players in the midfield and up front handled the ball in the first half. I was shocked by how poorly they played."

Ten Hag did not shy away from his team's shortcomings and suggested that the loss was due to a "lack of belief." He also criticized his team for folding "like a pack of cards" after City had gotten their noses in front of them in the game. Ten Hag did not hide from the criticism.

Lindelof could replace Varane against Omonia.

We are not disciplined enough to follow the regulations, and as a result, you are punished severely "Ten Hag stated. "It came as a complete shock to me. We were not on the offensive, we did not show enough bravery on the ball, and there were opportunities for us to play, but we did not show enough bravery.

"I was critical of them, and I let them know it. Likewise, as I was unable to understand what was being sent to me. We just cannot win games when we have such low self-esteem among our players. This is not the spirit of Manchester United, and I believe we are capable of much more courageous behavior.

"We are currently in the process of improving, and I knew going in that big teams like City, if you are not good, you will get hammered, which is exactly what happened to us because we were not good. Because we did not adhere to the guidelines for how we normally play, you got absolutely destroyed. That is something that must be accepted by us, but the performance was not acceptable.
