After Manchester United squeezed by Omonia, Paul Scholes unleashed his fury on both Antony and Erik ten Hag.

Scholes was not pleased with the play of Antony and Ten Hag for Manchester United's Europa League match against Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus, despite the fact that Manchester United emerged victorious in the match.

Paul Scholes criticized Manchester United's triumph over Omonia Nicosia.

Paul Scholes has criticized Manchester United star Antony as well as his manager Erik ten Hag in the wake of their team's tense victory over Omonia Nicosia. Scholes made his comments after Manchester United's match.

The Cypriot team took an unexpected lead over the Red Devils in the first half of the match, and they maintained that advantage until the 53rd minute. United was able to mount a comeback and ultimately emerge victorious thanks to goals scored by Marcus Rashford (2) and Anthony Martial (1), who both contributed to the away team's victory.

However, despite the victory, Ten Hag was still dissatisfied with the way his team played because it was not a vintage performance. One of his primary sources of annoyance was the play of his wingers, Jadon Sancho and Antony, whom he criticized for being "too static."

In agreement with the Dutchman, Scholes then proceeded to deliver a scathing criticism of Antony's abilities. The United legend gives the impression that he is not impressed with the winger, despite the fact that the player has scored twice in his first two Premier League games.

"He was correct in his assessment that the wingers were stationary. Sancho almost never comes up behind the pack. "He needs a fast left-back if he's playing on the left, and he needs a striker to link with, and they don't really have that right now," Scholes said to BT Sport. "They haven't really got that at the moment."

Antony is also on the opposite side, and he does not approach from behind. It appears that he only has one trick up his sleeve. He never hesitates to cut inside and either pass the ball back to the fullback or take a shot when he does so. You have the impression that he still has some room for growth. We are well aware that it is still very early in his career."

Scholes criticized Ten Hag for his "disrespectful" use of Cristiano Ronaldo, which was another reason for the criticism. The attacker started up front on Thursday night after being left on the bench for the match against Manchester City; however, Scholes believes that using the attacker in such a role is a waste of his talent.

"I believe that playing him on a Thursday night in the Europa League is almost more disrespectful than playing him at all. This individual is known all over the world. I am not suggesting that at the age of 37 he ought to be starting the games, especially the big games, but this is the kind of competition that makes it difficult to get yourself motivated to participate in, "Scholes said.

"I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it's the truth when you're a major player at a major club like this. Now is the time for him to make a mental adjustment, and given how mentally tough he is, the adjustment should be to focus on scoring two goals and earning a spot on the team for the weekend.

"When you've got a top quality player, not just top quality but he's one of the best that's ever been, you think you can come on the pitch and have a say in the game. Not just top quality but one of the best that there's ever been. When you look at him, you can tell that he is unhappy with the situation because he wants to be out on the field. In my opinion, bringing it back to the idea of respecting him by not bringing him on the field because of his career is complete and utter nonsense.

"That man, along with anyone else, wants to go on that pitch because they are aware that they have struggled, had a difficult time, or a difficult half, and they want to go on and do something about it. I'm not going to say that he would have come on and scored four goals after being substituted in, but he would have wanted to play on that field. Leaving him there to watch the game is, in my opinion, a more disrespectful thing to do than anything else.
