Manchester United awaits two player fitness before Tottenham match.

A series of injuries forced Erik ten Hag to include a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old on the Manchester United bench for their match against Newcastle.

Eriksen and Martial started once.

Christian Eriksen and Anthony Martial will both be evaluated by Manchester United prior to Wednesday night's Premier League matchup at home against Tottenham.

Illness forced Christian Eriksen to sit out the season's first match against Newcastle, and Anthony Martial has been unable to play for Manchester United for the past two matches due to a back injury.

Martial, who is now 26 years old, was not included in United manager Erik ten Hag's matchday roster despite the fact that ten Hag had indicated that Martial had a chance to play this past weekend.

Martial has already been forced to miss three games due to injury this season. He has suffered injuries to his hamstring and Achilles that have kept him out of action for a respective three weeks and six weeks.

The France international has played in all five of United's first-team exhibition matches during preseason, but he has been sidelined for nine of the club's 13 games this season.

On Monday, Eriksen was not seen participating in training, and he has until tomorrow to regain his health in order to play against Spurs, whose game starts later than usual at 8.15 p.m.

The 30-year-old player departed Tottenham in January of 2020, and when he ran into his old team while playing for Brentford the previous year, he was given a standing ovation by the Spurs fans who were in attendance at the Community Stadium.

If Eriksen is unable to make a recovery, Scott McTominay, who had been suspended for one match in United's domestic competition, will be eligible to start for the team.

A problem with Harry Maguire's thigh has kept him out of action for the past three weeks, and both Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been sidelined for the past six weeks.

During his pre-match press conference, which is planned for the unusually late time of 3:45 p.m., Ten Hag is expected to deliver updates on both Martial and Eriksen's conditions.

Since January of 2018, this is the latest that Manchester United have had a pre-match press conference for the Premier League.
