FA breach might have led to third goal as Antony sets record

With a 2-1 victory over a resolute and tenacious Everton side, Erik ten Hag's Manchester United side was able to put behind them the thrashing they had at the hands of Manchester City the previous weekend.

With a decisive victory over Everton on Sunday evening, Manchester United got back on track in the Premier League and continued their winning ways.

After the humiliating performance against Manchester City, it appeared as though Erik ten Hag was going to have to spend another long night on the Merseyside. Alex Iwobi scored a magnificent goal to put Frank Lampard's side ahead in the match. However, United did a good job of responding.

Anthony Martial played the ball through to Antony, who finished with aplomb to keep Anthony Martial's exorbitant transfer fee from being repaid. However, the player who initially put the ball in the net was removed from the game not long after due to an injury. He was then replaced by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, who went on to score the second goal and the game-winning goal for United.

Having said that, the following is the most recent information from United:

The loss of a third goal

Marcus Rashford scored a goal that appeared to give United the victory in the second half, but the referee ruled that the goal was disallowed because it was assisted by handball. Having said that, there was still a chance that the goal would have counted.A peculiar exception exists in the Laws of the Game of the FA, which states that a player is only guilty of an offense if they "score in the opponents goal directly from their arm or hand" or "score immediately after the ball has touched the hand/arm, even if accidentally."

That indicates that the goal would have been allowed to stand if, for example, Rashford had passed the ball on to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rashford's goal was chalked off

The record was set by Antony.

When Antony arrived for his enormous transfer fee, there were, and continue to be, a lot of people's hopes and dreams pinned on him. Having said that, the Brazilian is proving himself worthy of a $80 million price tag by consistently performing at a high level.

Not only was his goal against Everton essential to United's victory, but it also marked his third goal in as many consecutive Premier League appearances. That sets a new mark for Manchester United's club record.

And against Newcastle the following week, he will have the opportunity to make it even longer. The 22-year-old has had a positive experience up to this point.

Exit door closing on Ronaldo
It was revealed late last night that Ronaldo may finally be able to leave Manchester United, as Inter Miami is willing to offer him a way out of the club. The club is happy to pay the Portugal captain's astronomical wages, but the owner, David Beckham, will do so only on the condition that the player joins the team as a free agent.

That story has moved on, and now it appears that United's No. 7 is willing to consider the offer. Given that Ronaldo's primary motivation for wanting to leave Real Madrid in the summer was to do better in the Champions League, this would be a dramatic about-face on their part.

However, flying to Florida could be an option in the event that Ronaldo is adamant about leaving at any cost.
