Rio Ferdinand reverses Jadon Sancho decision following Man Utd "concerns"

Rio Ferdinand, a former fan favorite at Old Trafford, is concerned about Jadon Sancho's performance at Manchester United. This comes just a few weeks after Ferdinand complimented the winger for scoring some important goals for his team.

Rio Ferdinand worries about Jadon Sancho.

Rio Ferdinand has acknowledged that it is "concerning" that Jadon Sancho has not been able to duplicate the magnificent form he shown in the Bundesliga while playing for Manchester United. This admission comes just a few weeks after Ferdinand praised the winger's productivity.

The pursuit of Jadon Sancho by Manchester United during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's stint at the club resulted in the club's successful completion of a £73 million transaction to acquire the services of the 22-year-old player last summer. However, since making the switch to the Premier League, Sancho has not been able to rediscover the form that helped him become one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

During his time in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, Sancho was incredibly productive. Over the course of four years, he racked up 54 goals and 67 assists for the team. The rewards that he has had since joining Manchester United (8 goals, 3 assists) have been underwhelming when compared to those stats.

Sancho had a difficult first year at Old Trafford, but he had shown signs of returning to form during the first few weeks of the new season, which had excited Rio Ferdinand. Sancho's first year at Old Trafford had been difficult.

In a statement that he made the previous month, he stated on his FIVE YouTube channel: "This year, he's been scoring goals, and that's been the key to his success. That he is getting into these areas [near the penalty area] is something that I really like seeing. It is important for your wingers to penetrate this area and score goals for you. In regard to this particular matter, I most certainly would have been demanding of him. Additionally, helps."

But Ferdinand is now concerned about the wide man, who had a difficult time in the team's victory over Nicosia Omonia in the Europa League last week and did not play in the team's 2-1 victory over Everton just a few days later.

Sancho struggles at Manchester United.

Ferdinand said: "I haven't seen his Bundesliga form. That worries me.

"If I'm Jadon Sancho or in his camp, I'm trying to decipher his game and mind to find the player that made him a European star. He was doing well in Germany, but it hasn't translated to the Premier League.

"Why? Why? Is it team setup? Premier League speed? Is he being asked to do more defensively, which saps his energy when they have the ball in transition?

"His assists and goals aren't good for his position. After pre-season, I thought, "Okay, yeah, this looks like the Sancho we bought from Dortmund.""

Ferdinand noted that while Sancho has scored against Liverpool and Leicester City this season, the "highlight reel" of skills he displayed weekly in Germany has been absent. Sancho must focus on output, Ferdinand reiterated.

Adds: "If he scores, assists, and affects the game, he's shown he's a calm finisher. He finishes coolly.

"I just want to see the Sancho that I was going crazy about and demanding that he come on during the Euros because I haven't seen that."
