Anthony Martial did not participate in any of Manchester United's training sessions on Wednesday in advance of their match against Omonia in the Europa League.
As a result of the hip injury that Martial sustained during the pre-match warm-up at Goodison Park over the weekend, he was required to leave the field during the first half of that match. Martial will not participate in Omonia, and a decision regarding his availability for Newcastle will be made as late as possible.
Ten Hag stated during his press conference on Wednesday at Carrington, "Not today [Martial training], we will see how it develops for Sunday." Carrington was the location of the event. "There will be no more Harry [Maguire]. And longer-term Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka."
The Manchester Evening Newsrevealed this week that the center-back has been a dressing room presence for United's last two Premier League games, making visits despite his lack of fitness. This is despite the fact that Maguire is still unable to play due to his injury, which has kept him out of action.
However, Maguire will not be available for Omonia, and neither will Donny van de Beek or Aaron Wan-Bissaka because all three are dealing with issues that are considered to be "longer-term." Even though Ten Hag is widely anticipated to select an experienced team to face Omonia, there is still a chance that younger players will be involved. During the portion of practice that was open to the public and watched by the media, Raphael Varane could not be found.
At Carrington on Wednesday afternoon, first-team players Zidane Iqbal and Shola Shoretire were seen in addition to Alejandro Garnacho working out with the group. Garnacho also participated in the workout.
Heaton, Dubravka, Martinez, Bennett, Shaw, Dalot, Malacia, Lindelof, Fred, Iqbal, Fernandes, McTominay, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Sancho, Pellistri, Garnacho, Elanga, Shoretire, Ronaldo, and Rashford are the players currently on the roster for Manchester United. Ten Hag responded as follows during his press conference when asked about the possibility of a rotation in his team's lineup for Thursday's match against Omonia: "All out for the victory, the first game is the most important, it's Europe, it's tough, we want to be No. 1 in the group."
