Wednesday night's matchup between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League will be a challenging one for both teams.

United is attempting to build momentum in the Premier League following the gruesome battering they received at the hands of their neighbors in Manchester City. However, they hit yet another speed bump on the weekend when they played out a goalless stalemate with Newcastle, a match in which they had the opportunities to win. The match against Spurs will kick off a challenging week for Erik ten Hag's team, which will continue its challenging slate with a trip to Chelsea on Saturday.

Anthony Martial is currently back in training but is not yet well enough to play for Ten Hag. As a result, Ten Hag will continue to be without Anthony Martial. United will not decide until Wednesday whether or not Christian Eriksen will be ready to participate in the match due to an illness; the team is currently in a race against the clock to have him available.

While Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Donny van de Beek are still out with injuries, it is anticipated that they will all be able to resume training by the end of this week.

There is no reason to make any changes in the defense, but Eriksen is one of United's most important players, and the team will need him to compete against his former club. Casemiro is the natural counterbalance to Tottenham's midfield axis and has grown as a player as a result of the consistent rhythm of starting games.

Marcus Rashford needs to replace Jadon Sancho after Sancho's lackluster performance against Newcastle. Rashford should take Sancho's spot in the starting lineup. There is an argument to be made for starting either of them instead of Cristiano Ronaldo, but Cristiano Ronaldo is the only exceptional goalscorer in the squad, and he will need to start producing results sooner or later.

Two changes

Tyrone Marshall

The obvious choice for Ten Hag to make this week is to go with the same defense that played on Sunday and preserved a clean sheet despite the fact that they will be put through severe testing by Tottenham. At the present, it appears that United's best back four is composed of Dalot, Varane, Martinez, and Shaw.

Casemiro has now established himself as the holding midfielder, and Bruno Fernandes will make an effort to be the orchestrator of the offense. Who exactly connects them is the mystery. It didn't really happen for Fred against Newcastle, and Christian Eriksen is worth taking the chance, even if it means he won't be able to play the entire ninety minutes because of illness.

The fact that Martial has not returned is a major setback. This year, Rashford has performed better on the left side of the field, thus Sancho should be replaced by him. Antony should play on the right side, and Ronaldo should play in the middle. However, Ronaldo needs to start generating results as soon as possible, not later.

Daniel Murphy

Because of injuries and form, there isn't much room for Ten Hag to make many changes to his team, but he will keep his fingers crossed that Eriksen will be able to play.

Even if the Dane is unable to play for the whole 90 minutes, it would be beneficial to have him on the field for any amount of time owing to the sharp and imaginative passing that he brings to the game that no one else can.

The remaining members of the team pretty much choose themselves, leaving only the attacking positions open for discussion. On Sunday, Ronaldo didn't have much of an impact, and his poor positioning hurt United's ability to move the ball forward. I believe that Rashford, who, despite the fact that he had a fantastic opportunity right before the game ended, gave some urgency to the final third, should replace him.
