Fernandes, a midfielder who hails from Portugal, has played for Manchester United so far this season and has contributed to one goal and two assists.
Bruno Fernandes, a midfielder for Manchester United, has responded to criticism regarding his recent form by stating that class is something that cannot be taken away.
This season, Fernandes has only managed to find the back of the net once for United, and it was the game-winning goal against Southampton. In addition to that, he has been involved in two assists, but his performance overall has not been up to the level that garnered him accolades when he first arrived in Manchester.
Despite this, Erik ten Hag has stated that he cannot dismiss Fernandes, and he has even given Fernandes the captain's armband to wear while Harry Maguire is out of the lineup. However, when questioned by Amazon Prime about his performances, the 28-year-old actor responded in a belligerent manner to those who have criticized him.
"If you play as a number 10, you will have a lot of last balls, and sometimes passing them is a risky move," he stated. "If you play as a number nine, you won't have as many." "Some people were saying things along the lines of, "He doesn't run, and he doesn't cover the pitch." I'd like those individuals to look at my statistics on how far I run.
"In most cases, I am at least one of the top three runners in terms of total mileage. The one who has completed the most sprints and had the most recoveries, but they are unable to find that stat because I have not been successful in scoring goals.
"The same can be said for my performance against Southampton, but the fact that I managed to score a goal made everyone pleased. I am a better player each day because I force myself to get better each day and because of this, I am reasonably certain that I am a better player today than I was yesterday.
"No, it is not at all (the toughest time of my career). When I first started playing football, I had a lot of trouble, but now that I'm at one of the most prestigious teams in the world, I don't think that will be my biggest challenge.
"I want to score my goals, and I want to assist more, but none of those things will ever be a problem for me." Obviously, class is not something that can be gained or lost; you either have it or you don't. However, difficulty is what makes life interesting, and I need to challenge myself.
"If my work rate is there, if the work I have been doing for the team is okay, I am quite sure I will get my goals and assists," the player said. "If my work rate is there, if the job I have been doing for the team is okay."
