Next season, Manchester United will continue to rebuild under Erik ten Hag's leadership and will make an effort to bolster their roster.
John Murtough, the director of football operations for Manchester United, has stated that the club will be concentrating on the summer transfer window rather than the possibility of making any acquisitions in January of the following year.
United brought in six new players to their first-team squad over the summer in order to show new manager Erik ten Hag their support by investing a record amount of money—nearly £220 million—during the offseason.
Because Ten Hag received a larger financial backing than was previously planned, there won't need to be nearly as much investment done when they go on to the subsequent stage of their renovation the following year.
At the most recent United supporters' meeting, which took place a month ago, Murtough explained their transfer plans and why they shouldn't expect any movement in the forthcoming winter window.
"In the end, we made a record level of investment for a single window," Murtough added. "This not only reflects the conditions in the market, but also our dedication to supporting the manager."
"We have always been clear that restructuring the squad will take more than a single window, and we have already begun collaborating with Erik on the next steps in that process, with a particular emphasis on the upcoming summer as well as future seasons.
"However, it is essential to keep in mind that investments must always be sustainable. This indicates that the money we spend on players must be covered by revenues over the course of the long term.
"We concluded the summer slightly ahead of where we planned to be in terms of the amount of players brought in. As a result, we do not anticipate the same degree of activity in future windows, although we will continue to strengthen our roster."
