Trent Alexander-Arnold said Liverpool have to win at Tottenham or forget about the title

Jurgen Klopp's team lost shockingly 2-1 at home to struggling Leeds on Saturday, shattering a streak of 29 home league matches without a loss and dropping them to mid-table, eight points off the top four.

Liverpool has dropped four league games this year, which is twice as many as they dropped in the entire previous season. Alexander-Arnold acknowledges that enthusiasm is diminishing with only two games left before the World Cup break—they also play Southampton after the trip to Tottenham.

According to the full-back, "I'd say we all believe in ourselves, the way we play, the team, and what we can accomplish.

But when you have difficulties, I believe it may lead you to doubt your decisions and yourself.

"Apparently, as a team, things is not running as well as we would like it to.

"That is indeed something everyone needs to consider, something everyone should confront, and we should all make sure we resolve it, especially next week when we play Tottenham, a top-four contender.

If we want to have any chance of accomplishing our goals and aspirations for the campaign, we really need to go out there and win some games.

The lowest goal would have likely been a top-four finish and Champions League eligibility, though Klopp acknowledged after the loss that his team is actually in serious danger of falling short of that objective.

Along with defensive deficiencies that Jesse Marsch's team once again uncovered, Liverpool has increasingly struggled to score goals.

Just three goals have been produced in the last four league games, while the 9-0 hammering of Bournemouth in August greatly pushes up the season's total of 23 goals.

With 22 shots against Leeds, at least Alexander-team Arnold's is still creating opportunities. The prospect of a midseason break and the chance to escape domestic issues is another comparatively tiny positive for the England defender to cling to.

"I believe that our current run of performance is not the brightest. I believe many players would agree with him on both their individual play and the team as a whole.

However, we continue to create opportunities for ourselves to score goals and win matches. But especially in the last two Premier League games, we have simply have been unable to handle them.

"I believe it's critical that we refocus and determine what's wrong. Pick up every point as you can now heading into this break, in my opinion, based on how it appears now currently.

And perhaps this break will come at a good time for us to reorganize and be able to recover our settings before the second part of the season.
