In an upcoming interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to make the claim that his former teammate Gary Neville at Manchester United uses him in order to "be more famous."
Gary Neville, a former defender for Manchester United, has taken to social media in order to respond to Cristiano Ronaldo, a former teammate of his who suggested that the pundit was only using him for his fame. Ronaldo made the statement.
During his interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo expressed his dissatisfaction with teammates Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville. The 37-year-old forward also claimed that the club had "betrayed" him.
Ronaldo asserted that Gary Neville was attempting to "take advantage" of him as the "number one followed guy in the world" and that the Sky Sports pundit was using his name for "fame." Ronaldo said that Neville was doing this because Ronaldo is the "number one followed guy in the world.
" Neville responded to Ronaldo's statements on Twitter by asking, "Anyone for dinner?" This was in response to Ronaldo's claim that he and Neville were not friends and did not go out to dinner together. Ronaldo said that he and Neville did not go out to dinner together. The former star of Real Madrid said the following when asked about Neville: "It's simple to sit back and take criticism from former coworkers or teammates, even though they can only see things from their own perspective.
"It's not hard to find something to criticize, but I don't know if you have a job in television where people feel they need to criticize you in order to become more famous. It is completely beyond my comprehension. It's tough when people who were in the same changing room with you criticize you in such a way."
He added: "According to Ronaldo, "I think that they take advantage of that because they are not stupid because they are not stupid." "I'm the guy with the most followers in the entire world." This is not a case of mere coincidence." The captain of Portugal was also critical of his former strike partner Rooney, suggesting that the all-time leading goalscorer for the Reds was "probably" envious of him. Rooney holds the record for the most goals scored in club history.
"I share your surprise; I'm in the same boat. Piers, I don't understand. He suggested that the questions be directed toward the other individual and added, "I don't know. I have no idea why he was so harsh in his criticism of me. Probably (it's jealously). Probably due to the fact that he retired in his 30s rather than continuing his career. I'm still performing at a high level, but I'm not going to brag about how much better I look than he is, even though that's the case. "People are allowed to have their own opinions, but they don't know what is going on inside the training ground at Carrington - or even in my life. It's difficult to listen to the kind of criticism and negativity that comes from teammates, such as Gary Neville.
"They shouldn't just listen to one point of view; instead, they should also listen to my point of view, because it's simple to criticize something [when] you don't know the full story. We play together, but they won't be coming and we won't be having dinner together under any circumstances. "They are not my friends; they are colleagues."
In October, prior to Manchester United's Premier League match against West Ham, Ronaldo ignored Gary Neville but made an effort to embrace former teammate Louis Saha, who was working on the panel for Sky Sports, and Jamie Redknapp in front of the 47-year-old. Neville was working as a commentator for Sky Sports.
