According to statements made by Wayne Rooney, a former striker for Manchester United, there was "no option" to let Cristiano Ronaldo remain at Old Trafford after "he attacked the club." Rooney made these statements.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, Manchester United confirmed that Ronaldo would be leaving the club immediately upon reaching a mutual agreement to do so.

It said there: "The club thanks him for his enormous contribution during his two separate stints at Old Trafford, during which time he made 346 appearances and scored 145 goals. The club also sends its best wishes to him and his family for the future.

Everyone at Manchester United is committed to continuing the team's improvement under Erik ten Hag and working cooperatively to achieve success on the field.

In a message of his own, Ronaldo responded by saying, "Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early." Ronaldo was referring to the fact that the two parties had reached a consensus regarding the matter. Both Manchester United and its supporters have my undying affection, and that will never, ever change. On the other hand, I believe that the time has come for me to look for a new challenge.

"I want to take this opportunity to wish the team the best of luck for the rest of the season and for the years to come.

Rooney has given his response to the most recent information, in which he shares his thoughts on the club's decision to part ways with the five-time winner of the Ballon d'Or. This comes after Ronaldo made some negative comments about Rooney.

Rooney stated the following to the Visa India Match Centre: "I find that rather depressing. As a former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo and a fan of Manchester United, it saddens me to see his time with Manchester United come to an end in such a manner. I've said many times that Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time. As a former teammate of Ronaldo and a fan of Manchester United, it saddens me to see it come to an end in such a manner.

"But once everyone has seen the interview with Piers Morgan and how he criticized the club, I believe that opinion will change. In my opinion, there was no other choice. Because there is no way for this [not] to occur, you can count on the fact that I am not surprised.

"It's unfortunate because he's been such a valuable team member for Manchester United, but I wish him the best of luck with his future club, whichever one it may be.

"It is plain to see that he is still a very good player. As I've mentioned in the past, he's not the same player he was when he was 23 years old. Now 37 years old And I continued to believe that there was a role for him to play at Manchester United, perhaps not from the beginning of the game, but as a substitute. It is clear that he does not believe he is prepared to take on that role, and it is also clear that he wants to pursue his career in another setting.

"As a result, this is probably the best thing that could have happened for the club because it enables them to concentrate on the players who are already there and who want to remain there. As for Cristiano, he will devote his full attention to the World Cup and Portugal, but I'm sure that after the tournament, there will be teams interested in signing him. If he performs well in the tournament, then there will undoubtedly be a lot of teams interested in making an offer to sign him."
