Manchester United might still be persuaded to sign Ivan Toney on a loan from Brentford.
So far this summer, the Bees have remained steadfast, and they need to part with their best scorer for £60 million. With less than a year remaining on his deal, the England international has not expressed a desire to stay longer at the G-tech Stadium.
As of now, no team has shown a willingness to match that amount, so it's possible that no suitor will benefit from waiting. Although Arsenal and Manchester United have expressed interest in Toney, the 28-year-old striker is not someone that clubs like Chelsea or Manchester United would want to target.
According to The Independent, both Chelsea and the Old Trafford team are prepared to hold off on making a deal until closer to the end of the transfer window. At that point, it is anticipated that the Bees' position will be weakened, and clubs may start to get inventive.
In an effort to recoup part of the former Newcastle forward's valuation, Brentford may try to convince Toney to go for a lower price or perhaps on loan. Reportedly, Toney may soon receive a loan offer with a purchase requirement.
Given that the club is constrained by sustainability and profit regulations, United is hesitant to invest a significant sum of money in enhancing Toney's profile under their new hiring staff. A forward is still wanted, even though the club's priority are in midfield with the additions of Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee.
Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, acknowledged last summer that, in spite of the rumors, he would really like Toney to stay.
The former Peterborough player will not be let go cheaply because of his goal-scoring ability, the head coach of the Bees further stated.

He might be a player for Brentford, you never know. I really hope he stays. They'll present me with an excellent challenge," Frank said to Sky Sports in the previous month.

However, I've never encountered a coach who didn't want to have as many talented players as possible. Ivan is a Brentford player at the moment.
After his time with England, I know he's enjoying his well-earned vacation, and if he's here with us, I'll be overjoyed at training.
"Having [him] on your team is a great asset because he can score goals in two different ways. Furthermore, it's pricey if someone wants to purchase him.
