“Time To Focus” – Bashir Ahmad Reacts To Supreme Court Judgement On Suit Seeking To Disqualify Tinubu, Shettima.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) filed a lawsuit against Shettima, alleging that the party's vice presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, was nominated twice.

Bashir Ahmad, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital Communications, has responded to the Supreme Court's decision regarding the petition seeking to disqualify Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP claimed that Tinubu's nomination of Shettima as his running colleague violated sections 29(1), 33, 35, and 84(1)(2) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

The opposition party argued that Shettima's simultaneous nomination to run for vice-president and the Borno central senatorial seat violated the law.

However, the supreme court's five-member panel ruled on Friday that the PDP lacked the legal standing to file the petition and subsequently dismissed the challenge.
