The PDP claimed that Tinubu's nomination of Shettima as his running colleague violated sections 29(1), 33, 35, and 84(1)(2) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

The opposition party argued that Shettima's simultaneous nomination to run for vice-president and the Borno central senatorial seat violated the law.
However, the supreme court's five-member panel ruled on Friday that the PDP lacked the legal standing to file the petition and subsequently dismissed the challenge.
With the apex court's ruling, it is now time to focus on the May 29 inauguration and subsequent governance, Ahmad stated in a tweet in response to the development.
