How my wife helps me balance my teaching and acting vocations - Afeez Oyetoro, actor

Afeez Oyetoro, known as Saka, has said his wife helps him juggle his acting and lecturing careers.

Speaking with the Punch, he attributed his success to effective time management. Saka, unlike some of his coworkers, uses his leisure time for more productive pursuits, as opposed to going to the bar. As he is a civil servant, the majority of his filming takes place on weekends and holidays, a fact that Nigerian producers are well aware of.

According to the film legend, their mutual understanding creates a harmonious home environment that enables him to pursue his endeavors in peace and find time to unwind.

He stated, "I teach and am also involved in theater, but I've managed my time well. I use the time that some of my coworkers spend at the bar to accomplish more productive tasks. Second, most Nigerian producers are aware that I am a civil servant; consequently, the majority of my filming takes place on weekends or during the holidays.

"I also have a wonderful companion who takes excellent care of me. I always tell people that the greatest thing that could happen to a man is to marry someone who shares his vision. My wife and I communicate effectively, so there are no issues at home. I have peace of mind in everything I do, as well as leisure to rest."

Saka stated that both his acting and teaching careers are rewarding for him in various ways when asked which is more satisfying. He added that they share similarities as well.

"Rewarding is relative," he stated. As a teacher, I feel fulfilled because a large number of students have passed through me, which is a lifetime accomplishment. I've been in academia for nearly thirty years. Recently, I visited a lecturer in Abuja, where I was treated with respect. So, being a professor is rewarding, though it may not (necessarily) be financially rewarding. Acting is also financially rewarding, and I enjoy it.

"In my opinion, a teacher and an actor are identical. While the teacher teaches inside the classroom, an actor teaches outside the classroom. Currently, acting is more financially rewarding than other occupations. However, instruction is valued more. I can count on one hand the number of individuals who have passed through me and are thriving."

In addition, the actor stated that he attempts to progress with the times and remain relevant by keeping up with the latest trends. He noted that he is active on social media platforms and that, even if he were to lose his relevance, he would not follow any negative trend.
