Rita Edochie, a veteran Nollywood actress, has reportedly reacted to the news that Yul Edochie's first wife, May, has filed for divorce.

Earlier reports indicated that May Edochie and her legal counsel appeared in court on July 10 to file a petition to end her 18-year marriage to her spouse, Yul.

May and Yul have been at odds since April 2022, when he publicly declared his marriage to his colleague Judy Austin and the birth of their child.

May vehemently opposed Yul's decision to enter a polygamous marriage at the time, emphasizing that no one should be forced to embrace it.

She acknowledged that certain religions and traditions permit polygamy, but she refuses to conform to a practice that contradicts her own faith and family values.

Rita Edochie, who is married to Yul's uncle, posted a prayer for May on her Instagram page in apparent response to reports that she was planning to terminate her marriage to Yul.

She reflected on how the family used to be a six-member, peaceful unit that lived peacefully before everything changed.

Rita Edochie prayed for God's protection over May and her children, recognizing that God knows what is best.

“They were six in this peaceful home father, mother and four lovely children enjoying their peacefully. Today, they are now four in the same home. God, please surround and protect the home both their going out and coming back. God almighty you know the best and your best is always the best. @mayyuledochie,” she wrote.
