When Manchester United travels to Brighton for this weekend's early kickoff, they may stick with their experimental 4-2-2-2 shape.

On the first night of the Premier League season, Erik ten Hag's team defeated Fulham 1-0 with a late goal. However, they may start the game with Joshua Zirkzee, their summer acquisition, on the bench.

Even though United's goal came after they went back to their more conventional 4-3-3 formation, they played their best football earlier in the game, controlling the play both with and without the ball.

Right-back Noussair Mazraoui will continue to start, but Harry Maguire may be replaced in the starting lineup by Matthijs de Ligt. Mason Mount and Marcus Rashford may also maintain their starting positions if the lineup stays the same.

This is how we believe United ought to be arranged:

3. CB - Lisandro Martinez
