Exclusive: Former Liverpool player hoping for “incredible” replacement for Jurgen Klopp

Jose Enrique, a former Liverpool defender, has expressed optimism about the possibility of club great Steven Gerrard taking over as the Reds' manager after Jurgen Klopp.

While speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside TV, the Spaniard expressed his delight at the prospect of Gerrard taking over as manager at Anfield one day, while admitting that the Aston Villa boss is not yet world-class, even if he has the potential to become such.
Gerrard is still in the early stages of his managing career, but he has already made an impression during stints with Rangers and Aston Villa, and he is unquestionably one of the greatest players and leaders in the history of Liverpool FC.

Even if he pointed out that Liverpool still have the legendary Klopp in command, Enrique seemed to have big expectations for the ex-England player.

"It's a complicated question. When asked if he thought Gerrard would ever become a manager, Enrique replied, "I truly hope so."

What a fantastic opportunity." Stevie is improving as a manager; he's still not a world-class manager, but what he accomplished at Rangers was incredible, and he's done the same at Aston Villa.

"As a result, I am confident that Stevie will develop into a world-class manager, but I would not put anyone else in the same category as Klopp at the moment."
During the show, which will be available on YouTube later today, Andy Hunter of the Guardian also spoke and commended Gerrard for his management achievements to date, while acknowledging that there is a good likelihood that Klopp will remain in charge beyond the end of his contract in 2024.

The clubs he's managed so far have been carefully chosen, according to Hunter. In order to leave Rangers after winning the league and preventing Celtic from winning eleven consecutive titles, it isn't enough to be considered for the Liverpool position. He realized he had no choice but to join the Premier League."

As a career path, I believe that he's made a sensible decision, and I believe that he made it with that in mind.

"Klopp has a contract that runs through 2024... According to him, the intention is to continue until 2024, after which he might sign a new contract at the last minute. "Won't you want to sign him up for life if you're FSG?" you might wonder.
