David de Gea is back in the running for Man United vs Tottenham.

Dean Henderson will make his first appearance for Manchester United against Tottenham in the Premier League match.

While there is still question about the validity of a Covid test result that was returned as positive, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea could be back in contention to face Tottenham this evening.
The Manchester Evening News had heard early on Saturday that Dean Henderson has been given the go-ahead to make his first Premier League start of the season against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. De Gea tested positive for Covid on Friday, the first time in his career.

Henderson is preparing to step up in De Gea's absence while United wait for the results of Friday's squad-wide PCR testing.

While the majority of Manchester United's team did not report at The Lowry Hotel on Friday night, Henderson did. Security was on hand in expectation of United's arrival, but only Henderson, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and a few members of the coaching staff showed up.

PCR testing for the entire squad, which took conducted on Friday, is presently awaiting results. Manchester United's match against Tottenham at Old Trafford will get off today.

De Gea has been confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 and Henderson, who turns 25 today, is expected to show up as well.
On Friday night's La Liga victory against Cadiz, some have speculated that Atletico Madrid's surprising adjustment to United's pregame routine had something to do with it Atletico Madrid defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 second match on Tuesday.

Three outings this season against West Ham, Young Boys and Middlesbrough have been made by Henderson since his last Premier League game on the last day of last season at Wolves.

This is only the sixth time in 10 and a half years that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has missed a league match because of injury or illness.
If De Gea does not recover in time for the Atletico match, Henderson may be able to retain his starting position. After that, United will be without a game for 18 days.

There is going to be a meeting of Gareth Southgate's England team on Thursday. Henderson hasn't been called up since the European Championship, which he had to leave after one game because of a hip injury.
