Exclusive: Liverpool perceive an ulterior motive in the Marcus Rashford speculation.

Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United attacker, is said to be dissatisfied with his situation at Old Trafford and, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, is 'considering his departure'.

Rashford, 24, has had an appalling run of form in which he has scored only five goals in as many months as a Manchester United player.

Not only has Rashford been left out of Manchester United's first team, but he has also been excluded from Gareth Southgate's England squad for the Three Lions' upcoming international friendlies against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast. Rashford's career has reached an all-time low following his exclusion from both the Red Devils' and England squads.

Despite the fact that the English forward, whose contract with the club expires in 2023, is frequently subjected to harsh and sometimes unfair criticism from sections of fans, both his own and those of rival clubs, there is no denying that his recent performances have not justified his demotions to the second division.

The 24-year-camp old's appears to be doing its fair share of talking off the field of play as Rashford struggles to let his football do the talking on the game.

United's number 10 is being looked at by both Liverpool and Barcelona, according to a report from the Evening News on Frida

Marcus Rashford has been linked to a summer exit from United.

As a result of reaching out to sources within Liverpool, CaughtOffside has learned that there is little substance to these claims, and that while Rashford's charitable work outside of football is commendable, senior club officials have been quick to dismiss suggestions that they are looking to sign him on in a professional capacity.

According to some, these links to Liverpool have been deliberately dropped in order to replicate Cristiano Ronaldo's homecoming last summer, which saw super-agent Jorge Mendes negotiate with rivals Manchester City before securing a lucrative transfer for his star client back to his former club, Real Madrid.

The reality is that when it comes to Rashford, his situation is not precisely the same as the one in which Cristiano Ronaldo found himself in the previous season.

In the case of Rashford, who already plays for Manchester United but is presently seeking clarity over his future, one means of providing long-term security for the Englishman would be in the shape of a new contract, which according to our understanding is what is being sought from the player's side.
