Juventus CEO worries about Cristiano Ronaldo after transfer plans emerge

MAN UTD is hoping that Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a new two-year contract with the club after this season.

The Manchester United players and staff have been told that Cristiano Ronaldo might alter his mind at any time following reports about the forward's future plans. Juventus director Maurizio Arrivabene made a statement that may cause alarm among Manchester United supporters.

This hasn't been Ronaldo's best season since he returned to Manchester United in the summer of 2017. Despite his illustrious career record of 18 goals in all competitions, he and his team have struggled to find consistency.

After losing to Atletico Madrid in two legs, Manchester United was knocked out of the Champions League this week. They are also locked in a fierce race for fourth place in the Premier League with Arsenal, West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Many believe that the 37-year-old Ronaldo is seriously contemplating his long-term future since he is dissatisfied with Manchester United's season-to-date results. In any event, it now looks that the two-year contract signed by the Portuguese star last summer has been extended.

A Juventus director questions Cristiano Ronaldo's Man United decision

According to the Daily Telegraph, Ronaldo will remain at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season, regardless of whether United qualify for the Champions League or not. However, according to statements made by Juventus director Arrivabene, the veteran will not be wearing a United shirt for at least another 12 months.

Ronaldo appeared to be destined to stay at Juventus until a last-minute decision to depart resulted in his £20million transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2014. During the first few days of pre-season training, I saw a driven Ronaldo," Arrivabene said in an interview with Corriere dello Sport. "I had assumed he would stay, but he changed his mind, and we all know what transpired after that."

The comments make it plain that Ronaldo, who reportedly earns a whopping £775,000 per week, has the option to leave the club during the summer transfer window if he so chooses. He would not be short of suitors; Paris Saint-Germain and even Manchester City, who expressed interest in him last year, may renew their interest in him.

Ralf Rangnick

Ronaldo's future depends on Manchester United's Ralf Rangnick replacement.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, is said to have two motives for wanting to remain at United. He is said to believe that the club's hierarchy made the right decision in selecting Ralf Rangnick as their next manager, with the interim manager expected to step down at the end of the season.

And the striker is adamant that whoever is appointed as the club's new head coach will be supported in the transfer window. An abundance of transfer targets have already been linked to Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino of Tottenham and Erik Ten Hag of Ajax are seen as the frontrunners to succeed Markus Rangnick. Both have just had their teams eliminated from the Champions League, with Pochettino's future at PSG in particular being in doubt.
