The animosity of England fans has left a profound mark on the Manchester United star.

This season has been somewhat of a horror show for Manchester United’s Harry Maguire so far, which has caused some hostility between United fans and their captain over the course of the season. The international break would have been seen to be an escape from this tense relationship but

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was jeered before Saturday's game against Switzerland at Wembley and it hurt him deeply.

People close to Maguire told him before he signed with United that he enjoys his popularity among England fans, which explains why this would hurt so much, as it was most likely unexpected, and it adds to the hostility he receives on a weekly basis from Old Trafford supporters, which is growing with each poor performance. This is a surprise for Maguire, who has frequently saved his greatest performances for the national team and was outstanding for the Three Lions at the Euros last summer, so it's understandable.

Harry Maguire in action for Manchester United

The MEN say that England fans have often yelled at Manchester United players, which used to help the Neville brothers do better in white. In contrast, these United players have shown themselves to be a bit of a soft touch in recent months, and they seem to take criticism quite personally.

As a result of the pandemic, Maguire has been the target of a fair amount of criticism this season, which is largely owing to fans venting their rage. The criticism appears to be based on the fact that Manchester United spent a large sum of money to Leicester City for the defender in August 2019.

By placing a captain's armband around England's international arm, nited sought to justify themselves, but only Maguire can rise above the price tag.

For the United captain, a return needs to occur quickly, as it appears that everyone is growing irritated with the presence of an out of form center-back in their team.
