A new deal, however, according to Calcio Mercato (via Football Italia), will be offered to him, though at a lower salary. However, the Senegalese international has previously been courted by English clubs, and the Italian club will be hoping that his captaincy will influence his decision.

As Calcio Mercato points out, Manchester United have already expressed an interest in the Napoli defender, and the prolonged bad form of Harry Maguire suggests that the Red Devils may make an attempt to recruit the defender in the near future (via TEAMtalk).

According to the Football Italia source, Koulibaly earns approximately €6 million every year. Considering Manchester United's existing wage structure, this works out to less than £100,000 per week, which would be rather easy for the club to match.

According to Spotrac, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Raphael Varane all earn more than this amount, despite the fact that they all play the same position.
