Because of an obstacle in the transfer process, Flamengo remain interested in Andreas Pereira

In spite of reports to the contrary, Andreas Pereira remains hopeful of securing a long-term contract with Flamengo despite the club's financial woes.

Manchester Evening News reports that Flamengo's club officials have reportedly agreed a lower fee for the midfielder, but they have yet to confirm whether the deal will go through as planned.

Pereira has fallen out of favor under Paulo Sousa, the team's new manager, after a gaffe in last year's Copa Libertadores final.

There have been mixed results for Pereira since joining Flamengo, but at least the Brazilian was playing regularly and enjoying his sport again. This new manager will likely see him as a player with a lot at stake.

Flamengo continue to be a top priority for Pereira.

Since my contract ends in June, I promise to do my best for Flamengo. "I'm ready for whatever comes," Pereira told Globo Esporte. "I'm focused and positive."

"I just want to express my gratitude to the supporters and my teammates for all they have done and continue to do for me. Getting over the disappointment of the final was difficult, but it's something I've always been able to do with my inner strength. I've already put it away, and now I'm able to anticipate things with a clearer head. "I'm confident that I possess the necessary qualities to turn things around."

"I don't pay much attention to these things, but everyone knows that I prioritised Flamengo," Pereira said. Everyone at the club is aware of this fact. It's difficult for me to put a value on myself, but a 10 million euro Manchester United player... Is it possible for me to lower my prices? But I can't say for sure if it's too expensive or too cheap. I'm doing my best."

"I'm calm and focused." I'm well aware of the uncertainty. I also have to talk about it with my family and friends, but on the pitch, I'm cool and collected. In the next month, before I leave, I'm confident that it will be resolved, so I'm not worried about it.

To show my football, I've come to Flamengo, and I'll show a lot more. The disappointment of missing out on the championships is still there, but I always tried to show my worth on the field and the fans recognized it. Flamengo and my other friends knew that my priorities were always on them, and that Flamengo was a top priority for me at all times.

Previously, Sport Witness reported that Jorge Nicola claimed that 'important people on the red and black board (Flamengo) who're working behind the scenes' had called off the agreement.

A return to United by Pereira would be shocking, as he is clearly not good enough for a team that hopes to challenge for the Premier League again one day. Pereira

Flamengo should be able to raise the money needed to complete the transfer of Pereira.
