The manner in which Manchester United was defeated 4-0 by Liverpool on Tuesday night was unacceptably predictably predictable.
United have had a dreadful season, and it only got worse when they lost at Anfield. After Luis Diaz's goal, Ralf Rangnick's team conceded within five minutes, and the outcome was preordained after that point. Throughout the entire 90 minutes, United managed only one shot.
Rangnick has hinted that the club could sign up to ten players during the summer transfer window, and the club has acknowledged that a substantial summer rebuild is required. When Erik ten Hag, now the manager of Ajax, is appointed, he'll be taking on the most difficult job of his professional life. But which players should the Dutchman look to offload during his first summer in charge? Our MEN authors have expressed themselves.

In order to make room for whoever takes over as number one next season, the other has to go, whether on loan or permanently. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's soft management of Manchester United will continue if the David de Gea-Dean Henderson combination continues.
Man United must sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Alex Telles in order to get a full-back who can play anywhere on the field. There has been an overstaying of the welcome for Eric Bailly and Phil Jones. In addition to Axel Tuanzebe, the ship has set sail for the town. If you can get rid of three centre-backs, you'll have the leverage to sign a better player, with Teden Mengi being the 'possible' choice.
United player Paul Pogba may not put on the red and white shirt in the future. As it stands, his final appearance is approaching, as he is on the verge of leaving the country. As a matter of principle, it would be tempting to throw away Donny van de Beek because he tried to join Everton back in August. A player's career at United must be terminated after two years if he has not even made an appearance. They should have removed Andreas Pereira's name off the books long before this happened.
Paul Pogba was taken off after 10 minutes.
Out of his seven seasons, Anthony Martial has had two decent seasons, and his attitude as the season got underway this year was horrible. In the departures' lounge, Marcus Rashford should have a seat set aside for him. But Martial is the more important issue right now.
Henderson or De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Telles, Jones, Bailly, Tuanzebe, Pereira, and Martial are all available for sale.
Grant, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, and Cavani are all available for selection.

One can easily get carried away with negativity after a season of turbulence and call for total change, but the rebuilding task of United may not truly be as big some suggest.
Ten Hag's success as Manchester United manager will instead hinge on a complete rethink of the team's ethos and the implementation of a distinct style of play. The very prospect of doing so is a monumental task, one that makes moving peripheral players a risky proposition because it will be difficult to replace all of them.
There are six or seven players out of contract this summer who must be sold, and there is likely enough room to sell another six or seven players on top of that, depending on who you consider to be a notable first-team sale.
Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata haven't played much this year.
It's still impossible to sustain the goalkeeping staff, and the team is overrun with average defenders. Telles, Pereira, and Martial are marginal players who should be allowed to depart if buyers can be found.
Van van Beek is one of those who could be compared to a classic new signing under Ten Hag, although Rashford will undoubtedly need to improve following a disappointing season. Promoting Hannibal Mejbri, Alejandro Garnacho, and Alvaro Fernandez might save money and replace summer departures.
Sell: Telles, Tuanzebe, Jones, Bailly, Pereira, Martial, Henderson.

To be fair, Rangnick admitted prior to the Liverpool game that the goalkeeper position needed to be addressed this summer. After the 4-0 thrashing at Anfield, he believed five or more new recruits were required.
Lee Grant, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, and Edinson Cavani's contracts are set to expire at the end of the season, and United will not be tempted to extend them. So six outgoings, four of which must be replenished (Grant was a non-playing squad member, and Hannibal Mejbri makes sense as a Mata or Lingard replacement).
For Sevilla or Everton, neither Martial nor Van de Beek has been a success on loan since January. Pereira should be permanently transferred to Flamengo, while Bailly, Henderson and Jones should go for their own career reasons
Andreas Pereira scores for Flamengo
To be fair, there are valid justifications for selling everyone from Wan-Bissaka to Ronaldo — and there are valid grounds for selling them all — but it would imply 18 departures in one window. It won't happen. But 12 seems reasonable.
Van de Beek vs. Jones vs. Bailly
Grant, Matic, Lingard, Mata, Cavani
The question isn't who United should sell, but who should they keep. The team's performance thus far has been appalling, and it is time to hold the players accountable.
This is because, unlike FIFA 22 or Football Manager, United cannot operate in the transfer market as freely as they would want. This season's stellar performer, De Gea's No.1 spot seems safe. If so, Henderson should be allowed to depart after being mistreated by Solskjaer.
Both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly should be let go since they are no longer needed. We need to get rid of Telles because he is not up to the task; he is unable to defend himself. United may use Tuanzebe to clear the defense.
Against Leicester City, Alex Telles was in the middle of the game for Man Utd.
Despite the fact that Wan-departure Bissaka's is not high on the priority list, he is plainly not good enough to compete at the highest level.
It is no coincidence that Martial has been constantly jeered by the Sevilla fans during his career. There may not be many people who want to buy him, but he needs to leave United. Pereira is also on loan, and he should be able to sign a long-term contract with the Red Devils.
Henderson, Jones, Bailly, Tuanzebe, Martial, Pereira, and Wan-Bissaka are all available for sale.
Grant, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, and Cavani are all available for selection.
