Xavi dispels Manchester United speculation about Frenkie de Jong.

Xavi has dismissed reports linking Manchester United with a move for Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong.

Erik ten Hag's selection as Manchester United's new manager has sparked rumors that De Jong could be heading to Old Trafford this summer.

De Jong was part of the Ajax team that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019 under manager Ten Hag.

An article in Spain's Sport daily speculated that the two could reconnect this summer, which would be exciting news for Manchester United supporters everywhere.

On the heels of these rumors, Xavi has stated that he want to keep Luis Suarez at Barcelona.

"Frenkie's a very important player for me and for the club," he remarked, according to Fabrizio Romano. He's got to make a statement."

"I'm pleased with him," said the former Barcelona midfielder. If I had my way, he'd be at Barca for many more years.

In spite of the fact that De Jong appears to be out of United's reach at the moment, the club will need to search for a new midfielder.

Our current midfield has been nonexistent in most games this season and Paul Pogba appears ready to leave at the end of the season.
