Ralf Rangnick makes an admissions on Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo has equaled his goal total from the 2006-07 season for Manchester United, but his long-term future at the club is in doubt.

Before making a decision on Cristiano Ronaldo's future, Ralf Rangnick acknowledges that Manchester United must first assess his objectives.

After scoring his 23rd club goal of the season against Chelsea on Saturday, Ronaldo has equaled his season total from 2006-07, when he was just 23 years old for Manchester United.
He is under contract with United until 2023, with the option of a further year, but the five-time Champions League winner will either play in the Europa League, the Europa Conference League, or will not play in Europe.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has appeared in the Champions League for the past 20 seasons, and the club's inevitability of failing to qualify for the competition automatically casts doubt on Ronaldo's future at the club. Interim manager Rangnick has yet to speak with Erik ten Hag about his plans for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has not stated whether or not he intends to stay at United for a second season.

""This is something that we should discuss between us," Rangnick added, referring to Erik [ten Hag] and the board of directors as well as himself. Cristiano has one more year left on his contract, so it's important to see what he wants to do and figure out if he wants to stay." I haven't had the opportunity to speak with Erik yet, so it doesn't make sense to speak about it at this time.

"When Chelsea had the ball, he put in a strong showing as well. He made a significant contribution on the defensive end in the second half. Prior to the start of the season, I told you in one of the recent news conferences that we need to add two or three more forwards to our roster."

If Manchester United are to match the 64 points they finished with during the David Moyes era in 2013-14, they must win their final three games in a row. United has not won three consecutive games since the beginning of the season.

"It was a challenging season in general," Rangnick stated. "Realistically speaking, we could have quite a few more points; I wouldn't say easily, but we should have a few more points." According to what I previously stated, the fact that we were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid was a huge blow to the team's confidence as well as its energy.

In order to finish the season on the best possible note, it's critical that we show a reaction in the second half today and get at least a point against one of the top three clubs in England.
