Liverpool went into their Premier League match against Aston Villa on Tuesday night knowing that they needed to win in order to keep pace with Manchester City in the fight for the Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp chose to rotate his squad slightly for the encounter, resting Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Thiago Alcantara from the starting lineup. All three were on the field for Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend, and Klopp was likely trying to shake things up a bit.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, was the team that exploded out of the blocks, taking an early lead through Douglas Luiz after only three minutes.
