Atiku vs. Wike: Edo PDP Disowns Kassim Afegbua, Oshiomhole’s Former Commissioner

Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former spokesman for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign, is no longer allowed to be a member of the party, according to the Edo State chapter of the PDP. This decision was made a long time ago.

Former Edo State Commissioner for Information, Afegbua, has ceased to be an official member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State according to the PDP. He served under the late Adams Oshiomole's government. The former governor of Edo State was Oshiomole.

Afegbua recently announced his departure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in response to the selection of Atiku Abubakar as the party's presidential candidate and the exclusion of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State from the party's vice-presidential candidacy.

Ogie Aigbe Vasco, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state of Edo, claimed in a statement that Kassim Afegbua was expelled from the party for engaging in activities that were detrimental to the party.

He stated, "The Edo State Chapter of the PDP wishes to inform its members, supporters, and key stakeholders that Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former spokesman for our party's presidential campaign, is no longer a legitimate member of the PDP in Edo State." He said, "The Edo State Chapter of the PDP would like to inform its members, supporters, and key stakeholders that the Edo State Chapter of the PDP would like to inform its members, supporters, and key stakeholders of the following:

"Over the past few days, Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former member of the PDP family in Edo State, has engaged in a variety of media stunts that have captured our attention."

Even while it is his right as a Nigerian to share his opinions on matters affecting the PDP, he should not do so in the manner of a registered and genuine PDP member." Even though it is his right as a Nigerian to express his views on PDP-related topics.

In his opinion, "For the record, we inform you that the Edo State Chapter of the PDP suspended him from party operations for one month on August 3, 2020, for engaging in actions deemed anti-party activities. After receiving a proposal to suspend him from the executive of his Ward 5 in the Etsako East Local Government Area, he was awarded this suspension.

"Right up until the 2020 governor's race, he maintained his anti-party stance. After this, a Disciplinary Committee consisting of six people was constituted in order to investigate the charges that were made against him.

The committee's suggestions in the report submitted in May 2021 are also re-emphasised in the following:

"That Kassim Afegbua has exhibited a flagrant contempt for the rules and regulations of the party, as specified in Chapter 10 Section 58(1) b, c, f, I, and m of the PDP Constitution," the allegation states.

Kassim Afegbua has been dismissed from the People's Democratic Party in accordance with Section 59 (1) (g) of Chapter 10, Section 59 of the Disciplinary Procedures of the PDP.

"Due to the events that have transpired thus far, we feel it necessary to reiterate the fact that Prince Kassim Afegbua has been expelled from the party. He is not a member of the PDP family in Edo State, and he needs to quit fooling himself into thinking that he is."
