A Man Trekking From Bauchi To Lagos To Meet Tinubu Recounts His Kidnapping Experience

A native of Bauchi State who traveled from Bauchi to Lagos to celebrate All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Bola Tinubu's victory in the presidential primaries has described his harrowing journey.

Alhaji Usman Madaki, who began his walk from Bauchi to Lagos on June 10, 2022, arrived in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Tuesday, according to Naija News.

Madaki, who had promised to celebrate the win of the former governor of Lagos State by trekking, reportedly arrived in Ilorin on Tuesday night before departing on Wednesday morning for another adventure.

Madaki explained that he encountered many obstacles on his journey, including what he believed to be an attempted kidnapping between Kafanchan and Zangon Kataf.

When approaching several settlements, the trekker claimed he was misidentified as a Boko Haram terrorist. He reported that the villagers took him out of their village unharmed after determining he was not a threat.

"I wish to visit Tinubu in Lagos to celebrate his victory as the APC's presidential nominee with him.

"I believe he will be the future President of Nigeria. Tinubu is my godfather despite the fact that he does not know me.

Madaki was cited in an interview in Ilorin as saying, "Today I would be departing for Oyo State, which I believe is not that far away."

Madaki stated that he made many attempts to find an APC stalwart to assist him wherever he visited, but was unable until his arrival in Ilorin on Tuesday night due to the weather.

He stated, "Ever since I moved on Tuesday at 8 a.m. in Bandiru, a border between Niger State and Jebba in Kwara, the rain has been falling on me.

"There was no place to obtain a vehicle or motorcycle due to the strong downpour," the hiker remarked.

Recall that Tinubu defeated Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and ten other presidential candidates in Abuja's APC primary to secure the nomination.
