Europa League: Sancho, Ronaldo fly to victory, Lazio win

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season as Manchester United beat Sheriff.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season as Manchester United beat Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0 in a Europa League campaign.

Ronaldo had scored in seven games this season, but the United forward scored a first-half penalty against champions Moldova. It was the 37-year-old's 699th goal for the club, but Ronaldo's congratulations were comfortable for United's third straight win.

It was a terrible encounter that Ronaldo wanted to avoid when his failed attempt to leave Old Trafford for the Champions League club this summer. However, the Portuguese star will be relieved on the scoresheet after responding early for United on the day Jadon Sancho was dropped from the England squad.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad in their opening Group E match at Queen Elizabeth II obituary on Thursday. Erik Ten Hag's side had no advantage as they made a mistake in Chisinau and played against Sheriffs who beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the Champions League group stage last season.

Manchester United's first visit to Moldova's away base was a reminder of their declining status after failing to qualify for the Champions League last season. The Sheriff's House in Transnistria was deemed too dangerous by UEFA due to the war with neighboring Ukraine and was moved to the dark surroundings of the small Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau, where the match was played 40 miles away.

Before the match, David de Gea insisted that "Man United should play in the Champions League", but Ten Hag recognized the Sheriff as "a serious and worthy opponent". Ten Hag defended a strong team and Sancho, one of five substitutes, made United's first serious attack in the 17th minute.

Sancho's success

Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate recalled his qualities hours after learning Sancho had been sent off for England in a Nations League game. Taking a pass from Christian Eriksen to step in, Sancho deftly changed direction in the Sheriff's area, leaving room for a cool finish into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Sancho celebrated his third goal of the season by lifting the 22-year-old's shin in one of his personal boots, recently gifted by a young fan. United doubled their lead in the 39th minute, beating Diogo Dalot past Patrick Kpozzo before Ronaldo took his place.

Manchester United beat Omonia Nicosia 2-1 and are three points behind leaders Real Sociedad. Sociedad scored Ander Guevara's goal in the 30th minute of the first half and after Bruno equalized 8 minutes earlier, Crystal Palace FW Alexandre Sorlo opened the scoring with 80 minutes to go.

Andrea Belotti scored his first goal for Roma in a 3-0 win over 10-man Helsinki at the Stadio Olimpico. Jose Mourinho's side lost 2-1 to Ludogorets in their Group C opener but were always in control after HJK captain Miro Tenho was sent off in the 15th minute for an unprofessional tackle on Belotti.

It took just 69 seconds to break the deadlock when Paulo Dybala hit a home run from the edge of the box. Lorenzo Pellegrini scored the second goal in the 49th minute and former Torino striker Belotti scored in the 68th minute.

Bodo/Glimt beat Zurich 2-1 to top Group A after their Arsenal game against PSV Eindhoven was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Surprise Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin lost 1-0 against Braga in the 77th minute as Vitor Oliveira's goal leveled Group D.

In Group F, Midtjylland lost 5-1 to Lazio, while Feyenoord's Iranian winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 rout of Sturm Graz.

Below is a Short goal history of cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo's career has been centered around achieving the seemingly impossible with ruthless efficiency in pursuit of his goals.

The 37-year-old broke the goalscoring record during his career as the best striker in the history of Real Madrid and Portugal. However, his hat-trick set a new personal best for Ronaldo in Manchester United's 3–2 win over Tottenham Hotspur on 12 March.

After returning to Manchester United in the summer of 2021, Ronaldo scored his first hat-trick, scoring 807 goals to become FIFA's all-time leading scorer for men. He scored 6 more goals in the 2021–22 Premier League season and 2 more for Portugal in the 2022–23 Nations League, scoring 815 goals.
