DESCRIPTION | PhD Scholarship in Philosophy offered by the University of Aberdeen

We are becoming more and more engulfed in an information epidemic, which the widespread dissemination of health misinformation online together with the rising skepticism of specialists has only served to emphasize with tragically dramatic focus.

The project will make use of the most recent tools of social epistemology and virtue epistemology in order to put our understanding of online inquiry and information sharing on an entirely new footing, in order to better understand the sources of online epistemic risk, and in order to better train ourselves to navigate them skillfully.

The Criteria for Eligibility

Candidates for the University of Aberdeen PhD Philosophy Scholarship are expected to achieve the following standards in order to be eligible for the scholarship:

applicants hailing from every corner of the world
The applicant's academic record, prior qualifications, research plan, and references should all demonstrate that they have a strong aptitude for doing independent research and possess exceptional academic merit.
Applicants are required to hold, or expect to hold prior to the beginning of studies, an undergraduate degree in philosophy that includes courses in epistemology, either from a university in the United Kingdom with a first class or 2:1 honors level, or from an institution in another country that awards an equivalent degree.
Holding a Master's degree in a subject area that is related to the field of study you intend to pursue is recommended but not required. There is no consideration given to other aspects of a person's life, such as their nationality or financial situation.
This proof, along with the quality of the applicant's intended involvement in the advertised research project, will be taken into consideration during the selection process.
