Touchscreen Interface
Apple Remote's very top is touch-sensitive, just like the iPhoneand iPad.You can use it as an interface within games and swipe gestures to do things like advance or retrace media. Apple claims that you can use this by touching it; you should never need to squint at your remote to locate the appropriate spot to tap. Below is additional information on using the contact surface.
Menu
Menu allows you to navigate the Apple TV. Press it once to return one step, or press it twice to activate the screensaver. You can use it, for instance, to return to the app selecting/Home view from within an app.
Home
The Home icon (which appears as a large display on the remote) is useful because it returns you to the Home view from within any app. Whether you are deep in a game or viewing television, if you hold down this button for three seconds, you will be transported to the Home screen.
The Siri Button
The microphone icon on the Siri button. Siri will listen to what you say, interpret its meaning, and respond if possible when you press and hold this button.
These three simple tips should help you comprehend how this works; ensure that you briefly depress the button before speaking and then release it when you're done speaking.
- "Rewind 10 seconds."
- "Find me a movie to watch."
- “Pause.”
Siri will list some of the commands you can give it by tapping this icon once. As explained here, you can instruct it to perform a variety of tasks.
Up/Down Volume
Even though it is the largest physical button on the Apple Remote, it performs fewer functions than any other button; use it to increase or decrease the volume. Or ask Siri.
Touch Surface Utilization
There are numerous methods to utilize the touch-sensitive portion of the remote.
Move your finger across this surface to navigate apps and the Home Screen, and select items by pressing the button when the virtual cursor is in the proper position.

To move through content more quickly, drag your thumb from one side of the surface to the other, or drag it gently if you want to scrub through the content.
While a movie is playing, you can access the information window (if available) by swiping down on the touch surface. You can adjust various parameters, including speaker output, sound, and more, in this section.
Icons in Motion
You can move app icons to appropriate locations on the screen using the touch surface. To do so, navigate to the icon, press firmly, and maintain pressure on the touchscreen until the icon begins to wiggle. Now you can use the touch surface to move the icon around the screen; tap the icon once more to drop it into position.
Deleting Apps
If you want to delete an app, you must select it until the icon wiggles and then lift your finger from the contact surface. Then, carefully position your finger on the touch surface once more, taking care not to activate the remote. After a very brief delay, the More options dialog prompts you to select the Play/Pause button to access additional options. The crimson button labeled "Delete app" is one of the available options.
Folder Creation
You can organize your applications in folders. To do so, select an app until it begins to jiggle, and then access the More Options dialog by lightly touching the touchscreen (as shown above). Select the Create Folder option from the options that appear. You may rename this folder as you see fit, and then drag and drop applications into the collection as detailed above.
The App Changer
Apple TV, like all iOS devices, has an App Switcher that allows you to review and manage presently active apps. To access it, repeatedly press the Home button twice. Navigate the collection using left and right swipes on the touch surface, and close applications by swiping up when they are in the center of the screen.
Sleep
To set your Apple TV to sleep, hold down the Home button.
Apple TV restart
Apple TV should always be restarted if something appears to be malfunctioning, such as if the volume suddenly disappears. Holding down the Home and Menu controls simultaneously restarts the system. Then, release them when the LED on your Apple TV starts to flicker.
