Buhari Doesn’t Need To Go To Niger Republic – Ortom

The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari against leaving the country for Niger Republic at the conclusion of his term.

After departing office on May 29, 2023, the Nigerian leader has reaffirmed his intention to retire to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State, far from Abuja.

Buhari, speaking on Tuesday at the inauguration of the Nigeria Customs Service Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, pledged to flee to Niger Republic if he cannot rest in peace.

He added that because of his close relationship with the people of Niger Republic, they will defend him if anyone from Nigeria attempts to interfere with him after he departs office.

Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, Ortom urged President Buharito remain in the country and assist the impending administration of Bola Tinubu.

The governor stated that he has absolved the president for blaming his administration for the murders in the state in the center of the country.

He said: “Buhari doesn’t need to go to the Niger Republic. He should stay here (in Nigeria) with us. All of us should work with the incoming administration and by the grace of God, we shall go from bottom to top.

“When you don’t forgive, it means God too will not forgive. Me, as a student of the Bible and as a born-again Christian, I have forgiven President Muhammadu Buhari.”
