Governor of Kano state appoints new officails

Former Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wada Shehu Sagagi, have been appointed as Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff, respectively, by Kano State Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf.

Monday night, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the governor's chief press secretary, issued a statement informing the media of this.

Bichi was appointed to oversee the party's Gubernatorial Transition Committee after previously serving as the party's representative during the 2023 gubernatorial election count.

The appointments of Dr. Farouq Kurawa as Principal Private Secretary, the Honorable Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo as Chief Protocol, and Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa as Chief Press Secretary were also announced.

“These appointments take effect from today, Monday 29th May 2023. The appointees were selected based on their track records, commitment, and loyalty,” the statement read.

In a related development, Governor Yusuf has appointed Alhaji Yusuf Lawan as Chairman and Alhaji Laminu Rabi'u as Executive Secretary to the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board. Shiek Abbas Abubakar Daneji, Shiek Shehi Shehi Maihula, Amb. Munir Lawan, Shiek Isma'il Mangu, Hajia Aishatu Munir Matawalle, and Dr. Sani Ashir have been appointed to the board.

The appointees are anticipated to assume their positions immediately in order to ensure the planning and execution of the Hajj in 2023 are successful.
