These are my top five AI tools for the workplace.

I've evaluated a variety of AI technologies. These are the five tools I now use nearly every day for work.

The generative artificial intelligence (AI) boom may have begun with the release of ChatGPT, but the technology is now incorporated into a variety of productivity platforms designed to simplify your life.

AI tools can assist you in completing small duties on a daily basis, saving you a significant amount of time. As a result, you can spend less time on administrative tasks and more time on enjoyable activities.

Even before ChatGPT exploded in popularity, I've been documenting and evaluating AI tools for ZDNET. As a consequence, I have integrated many of these tools into my daily routine.

Here are the AI tools I use most frequently in my daily work. Only one of these life-hacking technologies is a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence.

 

1. Bing Chat

 

Let's begin with the most touted AI tool: the chatbot. Bing Chat is my fave artificial intelligence chatbot on the market.

Bing Chat gives you access to a variety of features in a single location, such as AI-generated images and web-informed responses.

I use the chatbot when I'm at a loss for inspiration, such as when I need new dinner recipes or date-night ideas.

Other uses include rapidly checking my grammar before sending a message and rewriting my thoughts when I cannot find the right words.

Finally, if I have a query about anything, I rarely ask Google because I would have to sift through hundreds of results.

Instead, I utilize Bing Chat, which provides a conversational response to the query I pose. And if I want additional information on the topic, I can select the citations.

 

2. Canva Pro

 

Canva has impressive AI features for graphic design, such as an image generator.

Canva Pro is superior to traditional AI image generators such as DALL-E 2 or Midjourney, in my opinion, if you need to create visual content.

If you need to produce visual content on a daily basis, you may not require the stylized output that an AI image generator produces. Canva Pro excels at providing the tools you need to create social media posts, invitations, flyers, and presentations with ease.

Text to Image, Magic Edit, Magic Design, Magic Eraser, and Beat Sync are some of the most important features of Canva Pro.

The AI Background Remover is my greatest feature. The process of isolating an image is as simple as pressing a button, and the results are consistently accurate. This function is frequently used to generate hero images for my articles.

An annual membership costs $120 for a single account. However, I believe that it is a game-changing tool that includes numerous excellent editing tools for photos, illustrations, and images.

3. Otter.ai

 

If you've ever manually transcribed a conversation, you know it's an arduous and time-consuming endeavor.

AI is here to assist, which is excellent news. Otter.ai is a significant time-saver, whether you are a student who records their lectures or a professional who records interviews every day.

With Otter.ai, it is possible to import a voice recording and have the conversation transcribed in minutes. The assistant provides speaker identifiers, time markers, and a reasonably accurate transcription.

I have utilized other transcription services in the past as a correspondent, but Otter.ai excels in terms of accuracy.

This tool has a monthly subscription fee of $8.33 for advanced search and unlimited imports. Considering the amount of time that can be saved, and the fact that time is money, I find this investment to be worthwhile.

The free plan of Otter.ai is limited to 300 monthly transcription minutes at 30 minutes per conversation for all conversations recorded on the platform. With a free account, you are limited to three imports for life. Therefore, the complimentary plan may not be for you if you record conversations that require transcription elsewhere.

 

4. Chat PDF

 

This totally free application would have improved my college experience, but I also use ChatPDF as a professional.

PDFs typically contain a great deal of content that can be difficult to comprehend. Due to the jargon, it can be challenging to read scientific journals and research articles.

The PDF is scanned in seconds by this free AI chatbot. It is then able to respond to any queries you may have and provides comprehensive summaries.

Since discovering ChatPDF, I've utilized it to verify my findings and correlate my conclusions with what's written in the PDF.

 

5. Grammarly

 

Grammarly is a frequently neglected instrument. The platform is well-known for its ability to examine your everyday writing for errors in punctuation, grammar, and more. Although it excels at performing these duties, the tool is capable of much more.

Grammarly has adapted to the world of generative AI and added new features that can expedite your everyday tasks.

You can use Grammarly to generate text with GrammarlyGO, which is still in beta but available for use. You can choose a voice, which includes options for decorum and tone, to help you compose messages for various platforms, such as LinkedIn or Email.

Although I use GrammarlyGO primarily for on-the-go proofreading, it has a plethora of features that are worth investigating, particularly considering that it's free and simple to use.
