  • £4000 (tuition fee-only, first year only)
  • £2000 (tuition fee-only, first year only)
  • £1500 (tuition fee-only, first year only)
  • £1000 (tuition fee-only, first year only).

It's important to note that the scholarships cannot be held in conjunction with any other full scholarships (e.g. Chevening). After being notified that you have been chosen to receive the scholarship, you have 14 days to make the initial non-refundable deposit payment of £2000.

The Criteria for Eligibility

  • Candidates must satisfy all of the standards outlined below in order to be considered for Birkbeck International Scholarships, which are as follows:
  • The mandatory language is English.
  • Africa (Sub-Saharan), Asia (Central Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, and East Asia), the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are the eligible countries (Middle East and North Africa).
  • You are a student from a foreign institution who is paying an international tuition fee and you have an unconditional offer to enroll in either a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught program at Birkbeck beginning in the Fall of 2022. In order to qualify, you must first have been determined to be an international fee payer.
  • You are a citizen or permanent resident of a country that is part of the appropriate region.
  • You are providing your own financial support.
    You are considered a "International" tuition fee payer at this institution.
  • Each student is only eligible to receive one scholarship award, and this particular scholarship cannot often be held in conjunction with any other scholarship awards.

How to Apply for a Scholarship at the International Level at Birkbeck

In order to be considered for Birkbeck International Scholarships, please submit your application in accordance with the following instructions:

(1) This is the location where you can check the general entry criteria and submit your application to the university.

(2) Once you have been given an offer from Birkbeck that is not contingent on any conditions being met, you are eligible to submit your application through the online application form for the region in which you typically reside.

Instructions for filling out the application if your primary residence is in Asia or Central Asia

  • You are need to be a citizen of one of the following countries and to be residing in that country: India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh.
  • Instructions for filling out the application if your primary residence is in East Asia or South East Asia
  • You must be a citizen of one of the following countries and have your primary residence in that country: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR), Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam.
  • Application form for persons who live in the Middle East/North Africa on a regular basis
  • You must be a citizen of one of the following countries and reside in one of them: Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Bahrain, Kuwait, or Tunisia.
  • Form for people who live in North America on a regular basis.
    You must be a Canadian or American citizen who resides in Canada or the United States.
  • Form for persons who live in Latin America or the Caribbean on a regular basis.
    With the exception of Brazil, you must be a citizen of and reside in any Latin American or Caribbean country. You may be eligible for the Birkbeck Global Future Scholarship if you are a Brazilian national (see above).
  • Application form for people who live in Sub-Saharan Africa.
