Paul Scholes, a legendary player for Manchester United, broke down in detail for Scott McTominay and Fred exactly what Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, in addition to Bruno Fernandes, can teach them to improve as football players.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard are just some of the players who have left Manchester United since Erik ten Hag took over as manager. This has resulted in significant upheaval in the club's central midfield. Eriksen and Casemiro have moved to Old Trafford to take their places, and despite not having to pay a transfer fee, Eriksen has already established himself as a regular starter for the team. Casemiro, on the other hand, has yet to make an impact at Old Trafford.
At the moment, McTominay is demonstrating signs of improvement and has managed to maintain his position on the team. Despite this, Scholes has continued to offer suggestions regarding how the Scottish national team player could improve by watching a player like Casemiro.
In an interview with Gary Neville for The Overlap, Scholes explained what he looks for in a partner, saying, "intelligence." players who are astute and possess a brain.
"[Eriksen] is the epitome of a player who plays with intelligence; he uses his brain to make decisions while he's on the field. Simply put, he is a very astute player; not only does he know where he is on the field, but he also is aware of the positions of his teammates.
When asked why he frequently instructs midfielders to "look over their shoulders," Scholes responded by addressing areas in which Manchester United have historically been deficient. He said: "I don't remember which game it was, but they lost to somebody, and although I was a little harsh on Scott and Fred, it was because they were forced to play with their backs to the goal the entire time.
"Because they are constantly receiving the ball with their backs to the goal, this is the only direction in which they can go. On the half turn, the ball should always be passed to the midfielder so that I can continue to watch both you (indicating Neville) and my forward.
"You saw Casemiro do it two weeks ago, and Eriksen does it all the time. Both of them are doing it. You saw them score, I forget who they were playing against, but Eriksen got the ball on the half turn and then passed it on to [Bruno] Fernandes, who was also on the half turn, and they scored.
"It's the little things like that that really irritate me because I believe that if you are playing for Manchester United, you should be able to do things like that. You ought to be prepared for that, don't you think?.
