This was a long-standing request for the platform, as ChatGPT already has coding capabilities, but Bard goes a step further. Bard can assist with a wide variety of programming and software development duties at nearly all stages of the process. This includes code generation and evaluation for 20 programming languages, such as C++, Java, and Python.

This system also allows you to export code directly to Google Colab to collaborate with others, and you can use this code-generating system to write complex functions in the spreadsheet editor of Google Sheets.

Bard is, at its core, a chatbot, so much of this process is conducted in a conversational manner. If you discover an error in the output of your code, for example, you can simply instruct Bard to repair it. If the code is slow, Bard should be instructed to quicken things up. If you want to optimize the situation, have Bard search for any overlooked errors. As Bard is still in its experimental stages, however, not everything will function precisely as intended. Google suggests that all code created by Bard be double-checked and thoroughly reviewed for this reason.

Finally, Bard can assist you in learning to code independently. Simply bring up some code, highlight a portion of it, and ask Bard what the code does. Any piece of code injected into the system will be accompanied by a thorough and easy-to-read explanation. You will eventually learn how sausage is made and, presumably, be able to create your own.
