Pine64 has just introduced PineNote, a novel e-ink tablet with pen and Linux support.
In a blog post published on Sunday, the company announced that the product would begin shipping to early adopters later this year for $399. PineNote, according to XDA Developers, will include a quad-core ARM-based Rockchip RK3566 chipset, 4GB RAM, 128GB of eMMC flash storage, two microphones, two speakers, 2.4/5GHz AC Wi-Fi, and more.

"The 10.3-inch, 3:4 panel has a resolution of 1404 x 1872 (227 DPI) and can display 16 grayscale levels." It has an adjustable front light from cold (white) to warm (amber)," Pine64 wrote on its blog.
In practice, this means that you can illuminate the panel to your satisfaction in dim or dark environments. Warm light is typically preferred in extremely dim environments because it can significantly reduce eye strain."
The PineNote's display is protected by scratch-resistant and glare-reducing reinforced glass. In addition, according to the manufacturer, it is 1mm slimmer than the Kindle Oasis 3.
"The factory's first shipment of software will not be suitable for taking notes, perusing e-books, or writing a dissertation."

Pine64 stated that the stylus included with the tablet would include a faint LED power on/off indicator, previous/next page buttons, and an eraser button.
Pine64 notes that they have already received a great deal of interest from individuals who wish to purchase the new PineNote, but only software developers will be able to purchase it later this year.
"The factory's first shipment of software will not be suitable for taking notes, perusing e-books, or writing a dissertation. It may not even load a graphical operating system. However, we're excited to see what you create with this device, and we're ready to join you on your voyage," the company added.
