Legislators in Niger grant Governor Bago's proposal to appoint 20 special advisers.

Members of the Niger State House of Assembly have approved the appointment of twenty Special Advisers by Governor Muhammad Umar Bago.

In a letter to the House, the governor requested the appointment of the Special Advisers, which the Speaker of the House, Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, read aloud during plenary.

Recall that the state governor, Bago, inaugurated the legislators on Tuesday.

Prior to approving the motion, the Deputy Speaker, Afiniki Dauda, a representative of the Gurara Constituency, noted the need to consider geographical and gender sensitivity in order to reflect fairness, equity, and justice.

Abubakar Gomna, who represents the Bosso Constituency, therefore requested that the names of Special Advisers be read on the house floor.

The Speaker denied Gomna's request, explaining that the provision of the constitution empowering the governor to appoint his special advisers does not require him to read their names on the floor of the house.

Murtala Badaru, who represents the Suleja Constituency, made a motion for the house to endorse the governor's request, which was seconded by Mohammed Wanchiko, who represents the Bida 1 Constituency.

Therefore, the Speaker instructed the Clerk of the House, Abdullahi Kagara, to convey the assembly's decision to the governor.

He then adjourned the house until the following legislative day.
